Breast lift, known in medical terms as mastopexy, is a procedure that involves removing excess skin, reshaping the breast tissue, and repositioning the nipple-areola complex (NAC) to a more ideal, higher position in order to correct sagging breasts.
Aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and significant weight changes cause the breast connective tissues (Cooper’s ligaments) to loosen and the breast to shift downward (ptosis). Breast lift surgery not only restores fullness to the breast but also, in cases accompanied by volume loss, can be combined with implants to achieve a more youthful and aesthetically pleasing projection.

Breast lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia using different incision techniques depending on the degree of sagging.
1. Anesthesia and Incision Plan: The patient is placed under general anesthesia. Büşra Nur Özger determines the most suitable incision technique (Lollipop, Anchor/Inverted T, or Areola Circumference Only) based on the degree of sagging.
2. Removal of Excess Skin: Excess and stretched skin tissue is removed along the marked incision lines.
3. Shaping the Tissue: The remaining breast tissue is gathered toward the upper part of the breast and reshaped internally with sutures (otoplasty).
4. Adjusting the Nipple Position: The nipple and areola complex are moved to the highest point of the breast (the ideal aesthetic position). If necessary, the size of the areola is reduced.
5. Implant Need: If breast volume is insufficient, the planned silicone implant is placed under the breast tissue at this stage (Lift + Augmentation combination).
6. Closure: The incision lines are closed with aesthetic sutures in a manner that prevents tension.
Recovery Process
Recovery after breast lift surgery is generally a process that can be easily managed with painkillers. For the first few days, especially when arm movement is restricted, you may experience a slight feeling of tightness.
Support Bra: It is essential to wear a special medical bra regularly for approximately 6 weeks to aid recovery and maintain the new shape of the breast.
Movement Restrictions: For the first 2 weeks, you must absolutely avoid heavy lifting, extending your arms above shoulder level, and any sudden movements that may strain the suture areas.
Swelling and Bruising: Swelling (edema) and bruising in the surgical area are normal. These will subside on their own within a few weeks.
Returning to Sports: Light walks can be started shortly; however, running, weight lifting, or sports that strain the arms should be resumed gradually after 6-8 weeks.
Shower: After the drains are removed and the dressings are waterproof with the doctor's approval, you can take a shower (usually 3-5 days later).

Changes in Nipple Sensation: Temporary or, rarely, permanent numbness or excessive sensitivity may develop in the nipple and areola.

Asymmetry: There is a risk of slight asymmetry due to differences in healing processes or tissue memory.
